Anybody remember the slogan, “See America First”? I remember it as a marketing campaign in the 1960s and 70s, to persuade Americans to spend their tourism dollars in the U.S., and not Europe which they seemed to be doing in droves, to the distress of our tourism industry. The slogan was actually coined much earlier, around the turn of the century, to promote our first National Parks – and a certain railroad.
